COVID-19 Booster appointments are now available for children ages 5-11.

If a child has had COVID-19 it is recommended that they wait 8 weeks after start of their COVID-19 symptoms or positive test before beginning or continuing a vaccination series.

This window can be shortened to 4 weeks for children who are moderately to severely immunocompromised.

COVID-19 primary vaccination is now being offered for children under 5 years of age [6 months to 4 years]
As unvaccinated children can become very ill it is advised that children be vaccinated.

Health Canada has  just approved a three-dose primary series of Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine for children aged six months to four-years-old.

This  differs from Moderna’s vaccine for this age group, a two-dose series and a higher amount of vaccine per dose which was approved in July 2022.

The benefits have been assessed to outweigh the risks associated with  both of these vaccines.

Parents can register their children under 5 now to get vaccinated on the BC Provincial “Get Vaccinated” System.
